JALAS (Japan Association for Laboratory Science) international award
The 2012 prestigious JALAS (Japan Association for Laboratory Science) international award has been awarded to Singapore and SALAS representative: Dr. Tan Bao Zhen.
Dr. Tan Bao Zhen, obtained her BSc and PhD from the National University of Singapore. She read her PhD at the Department of Physiology and her thesis was entitled ‘Functional Characterization of RNA Editing and Alternative Splicing in C- terminus of the CaV1.3 Calcium Channels’. Her research involves investigating the role of CaV1.3 Channel properties in the Central Nervous System using the ADAR2-/- KO and wildtype mouse model in combination with molecular and cellular research techniques. She has also recently obtained the Gold Award for Swee Lee-Wadsworth Research Awards for manuscripts published FY2011/12, National University of Singapore, June 2012.
She is honoured to represent Singapore at the upcoming JALAS annual meeting which is held in Tsukuba (Ibaraki prefecture, Japan) during 15 – 17 May 2013.
