The Singapore Association for Laboratory Animal Science (SALAS) is a non-profit organization established to advance the responsible care and use of laboratory animals for the benefit of people and animals.
SALAS supports the burgeoning biomedical sciences industry in Singapore through professional education and practical training of all those using animals for scientific purposes. SALAS’ primary professional enhancement vehicles are regular local seminar meetings and this Annual Conference. The Association also promotes compliance with the Guidelines of the National Advisory Committee for Laboratory Animal Research (NACLAR) and the regulations of the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) by providing formal programs in cooperation with the AVA (for example) to train and certify the staff of biomedical research and teaching institutions in Singapore. SALAS is proud to acknowledge its affiliations with the Asian Federation of Laboratory Animal Science Associations (AFLAS), the International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS), the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) and the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) International in achieving its mission goals.
